We are celebrating our 115 year of serving the community. We will be marching in the parade with the next generation of Hitzemans. It is always a good time at the Party In the Park after the Parade. Hitzeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services has started a Flag Retirement Program to honor our veterans.
At Hitzeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, we are collecting those worn, tattered or torn American flags that are no longer suitable for display and are no longer fit to serve the nation.
To honor our veterans, and if a family wishes, we will provide one of the aged retired flags donated to be cremated alongside their veteran. The flag collected will drape over the veteran’s cremation receptacle prior to cremation and will stay with them during the cremation process. This gives the flag one last great duty of honoring your loved one.
In accordance to The United States Flag Code, Title 4, Section 8k states-“The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”

Upon receipt of the veteran’s cremated remains, the family will receive a certificate stating the last deed of service for that flag, which had draped their veteran during the cremation process.

Wounded Warrior-Soldier Ride
The Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride road past Hitzeman Funeral Home on 31st Street, braving the elements, on their way to a celebration in their honor at the Brookfield Zoo on June 20th. Veterans, friends and family rode 16.2-miles, the first of a three-day cycling experience encouraging those veterans to show
how strong they really are. Congratulations to the LaGrange Park Little League Champs!
The Diamondbacks (minors) had a stellar season, and pulled through to 1st place for the Tournament of Champions, beating the Pirates 3-1.

Shout out to the Girls LaGrange Softball League as well...the Yellow White Sox Majors Softball Team came in 2nd place at the championship. Rachel got the MVP medal during the 1st round of play-offs.

Delicious & Easy Fruit Salad
Cut up your favorite Red, White and Blue Fruit. (Strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, red grapes, bananas, black berries will be fine to). Add as much or as little vanilla yogurt as you wish, stir, chill or start sharing.
